As part of their Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, Sony Group of Companies organized a photo competition which attracted participants from all schools in Singapore as well as staff from Sony. Julian began his involvement in this event by giving a talk at the PUB Auditorium on 10 February 2007 to some 180 participants.

This was meant as the prelude to the photo competition, where Julian was asked to share with the participants some useful photography tips to help them take better photos for the competition. Julian was also invited to be part of the panel of judges for the competition as well as one of the invited guest to the prize award ceremony.
